Terry + Ellie

Ellie and Terry’s kitchen is the quintessential space for hosting, without any sacrifice of familial comfort or practicality. A pot of tea is never far away with a boil tap; entertaining large groups isn’t an issue with integrated seating in the island; an impressive range cooker offers enough oven and hob space to cater to a small battalion; a double-bowl Butler sink makes short work of clearing away the remains of an extended family feast (and an integrated dishwasher is close at hand if that pile of dishes are teetering a little too high or the craic is just too good to miss); forgiving Iroko wood worktops that can (and did) withstand the test of a party of teenagers; and more storage options than you can shake a stick at. All while leaving plenty of space for Belle and Bruce, two big handsome Bernese Mountain Dogs, to rollick about their kitchen freely, without the risk of tripping everyone up. The main kitchen units have been hand painted in Farrow & Ball’s Stony Ground, and the island unit, which features solid wood Ash seating, is hand painted in F&B’s French Gray.

After researching various kitchen options, Terry and Ellie went with Blackthorn because they liked the style of our previous work. They tell us they were impressed with the quality of our cabinets and they liked that they were made entirely from solid wood, which they say they hadn’t really found in their many searches. As a central focus of the house, Ellie and Terry wanted a kitchen that could entertain guests, host parties, and still function as a practical and homely space for the family. Part of an ongoing renovation project, Terry and Ellie love their Blackthorn kitchen, and are looking forward to the rest of the work being complete so that they can sit back and enjoy their beautiful home.
